THE BENEFITS

  • Expanding the Southwestern Ontario agricultural market.
  • Reducing vessel demurrage by having another port to direct vessels and avoid traffic and delays.
  • Reduce sailing miles by utilizing Picton Terminals location closer to the St. Lawrence Seaway.
  • This new volume will be eligible for Seaway discounts as we introduce new volume to Highway H20.
  • Attract more Import cargo direct to Picton Terminal to couple with the export of agricultural products.
  • Better utilization and optimization of equipment.

“If this new volume had to be trucked to an existing port it would add approximately 4 million kilometers to Ontario roads and highways. This is a perfect example of the benefits Hwy H20 offers. Reducing the degradation of our road infrastructure, expanding markets that were not economically feasible and, most importantly, reducing the carbon footprint” said John Grech, Director of Business Development at Picton Terminal.

The Opening: April 2026

Construction is currently ongoing at Picton Terminals.  Civil works are underway to prepare the property for the construction of eight 140 foot silos.  The new storage hub for southwestern Ontario’s farmers and the means to get their crops to the global market, effectively, efficiently and economically.

Parrish & Heimbecker are planning for a first vessel load for April of 2026.  This will mark the first ship of many more to come. The facility received their first vessel and shipment in April 2026.
