Canada Steamship Lines’ Trillium Class new build program is on track with the first of the four new 35,500 dwt self-unloaders set to be delivered in the fall of 2012. Inspired by the three petals of its namesake flower, the Trillium Class represents the three tenets of CSL’s sustainability philosophy and the three areas in which the new vessels will excel: energy, efficiency and the environment.
CSL’ new Trillium class vessels will feature an EPA Tier II main engine that increases fuel efficiency and reduces nitrogen oxide and particulate matter emissions; A custom design hull that increases cargo lift, fuel efficiency and manoeuvrability; Next-gen self unloading equipment that enhances spill protection and reduces noise; Power takeoff generators powered by a main engine that reduce fuel oil consumption. More information on CSL’s Trillium Class vessels is available at www.cslcan.com/trillium/.
On April 1, 2012, Canada Steamship Lines will transition to a new executive management team with the retirement of Gerry Carter and Tom Brodeur. Louis Martel will take the helm as President and will lead a new team composed of Dan McCarthy, incoming Vice-President, Marketing and Customer Service, Claude Dumais, Vice-President, Technical Operations, Kirk Jones, incoming Vice-President, Sustainability, Government and Industry Affairs, and Harry Christopoulos, Controller.
